Frequently asked

Where do the prayer times come from?

They are calculated on your device from the sun’s position at your chosen city — or at your GPS location, if you turn that on in Settings → Prayer times location. Nothing is downloaded, and no time is sent anywhere. Because different communities use different conventions, the result can differ by a few minutes from a calendar printed by your synagogue. If your community follows a specific opinion, name it in the message — it can be added.

The time looks wrong for my city.

Check two things first: the city in Settings → Prayer times location, and whether the device time zone matches where you are. If you are travelling and using GPS, the app needs a moment to settle on a location. If it is still off, send the city, the time you expected and the time shown.

A word, a translation or a transliteration looks wrong.

Please include the service, the section and the line — quoting the first few words is enough. Corrections are welcome and are usually fixed in the next update. Translations are there to help you follow the Hebrew, not to replace it.

How do I change the theme, text size or vowel marks?

Settings → Appearance holds the theme (Paper, Sepia, Dawn, Midnight), the text mode (Hebrew with translation, Hebrew only, and so on) and the text size. Settings → Reading holds the vowel marks (nikud), the approximate transliteration and the spread layout used on wide screens.

What is the spread layout for?

On a phone the text runs in a single column. On an iPad, or an unfolded foldable, the app can show a facing spread instead — Hebrew and translation on separate pages, like a printed siddur, rather than interleaved in one narrow column. You can choose the variant in Settings → Reading → Spread layout.

Do I need an account or an internet connection?

No account, ever. The texts ship inside the app and the zmanim are computed locally, so the app works with no connection at all. Only the optional tip jar needs the App Store.

The support options say they aren’t available. Why?

The tip jar asks the App Store for its prices, and if the store cannot answer — no connection, or a build whose products aren’t live yet — the app says so instead of showing an empty list. Tap “Try again” once you are online. Nothing else in the app is affected.

How do I get a refund for a tip?

Tips are handled entirely by Apple, so refunds go through Apple as well: reportaproblem.apple.com. A charge cannot be issued or reversed from here. If something went wrong during a purchase, write in anyway — it will be looked into.

Do tips unlock anything?

No. Every service, theme and zman is free whether or not you tip. The tip jar exists because the app has no ads, no subscription and no company behind it, and support is what pays for corrections and the next version.

How do I delete my data?

Settings and notes live only on this device. Deleting the app deletes all of it, along with your bookmarks, notes and history. There is no copy anywhere else to remove — see the privacy page for the details.

Which devices are supported?

iPhone, iPad and foldables, on a current iOS release. The layout adapts to the width of the screen: a single column where it is narrow, a spread where there is room.

Before you write

Including these makes a fix much faster:

App version Shown at the bottom of Settings → About
Device and iOS version Settings → General → About on your phone
What you expected The prayer time, the wording, the behaviour
What happened instead A screenshot is ideal, though a description is fine
