Nothing leaves your device
Siddur Duo has no account, no analytics, no advertising and no server of its own. The app contains no networking code: what follows is a plain description of the few things that are stored locally, and the one part of the app that talks to Apple.
The short version
- We do not collect personal data. Not a name, not an email address, not a device identifier, not a location.
- We cannot identify you. There is no account, so there is nothing to link any data to.
- Nothing is uploaded. Prayer times are calculated on the device; the texts are inside the app.
- No tracking, no ads, no third-party SDKs. No advertising identifier is read, and no cross-app tracking takes place.
What is stored on your device
All of it is created by you using the app, stays in the app’s own storage, and is removed when you delete the app.
| Preferences | Theme, text size, text mode, spread layout, vowel marks (nikud), transliteration on or off, the city you chose, its coordinates and time zone, and whether you have opened the app before. |
|---|---|
| Your own content | Bookmarks you set, notes you write against a line of prayer, and a small history of services you have completed (a count and a date, used for the streak on the home screen). |
| Purchase state | A local flag and a count, so the app can thank you for supporting it. No receipt, card or transaction identifier is stored by the app. |
Location
Location is optional. If you pick a city by hand, the app uses that city and never asks for permission. If you tap “Use my location”, iOS asks for your permission and gives the app a coordinate; the app uses it to calculate prayer times for where you are and stores it locally alongside the time zone.
The coordinate is never sent anywhere, because there is nowhere to send it. You can revoke the permission at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services; the app then falls back to the last city you chose.
Purchases
Tips are bought through Apple’s in-app purchase system. Apple processes the payment and knows who paid; the developer does not. The app receives only Apple’s confirmation that a purchase completed, and stores the local flag described above.
Apple’s handling of that information is described in Apple’s privacy policy. Refunds are handled by Apple as well — see the support page.
Diagnostics and backups
The app ships no crash-reporting or analytics framework. If you have opted in to “Share with App Developers” in iOS, Apple may pass on anonymised crash reports; that choice is yours and is controlled in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements.
If your device is backed up to iCloud or to a computer, the app’s local data is included in that backup like any other app’s. The backup is yours and is governed by Apple’s terms, not by this policy.
If you write to make_value@hotmail.com, the message arrives with your email address and whatever you chose to include — a screenshot, for example. It is used only to answer you, it is not added to any mailing list, and it is not shared. Ask, and it will be deleted.
Children
The app is suitable for all ages and collects no data from anyone, including children. There is no advertising, no user-generated content shared between people, and no way to contact other users.
Your choices
- Delete everything: delete the app. Preferences, bookmarks, notes and history are removed with it.
- Clear individual items: remove a bookmark or a note where you created it; change or reset the rest in Settings.
- Turn location off: revoke the permission in iOS Settings, or switch to a chosen city inside the app.
- Ask a question: write to the address above. Under the GDPR and similar laws you have rights of access, rectification and erasure — in practice there is nothing held to disclose, correct or erase, but a question will be answered honestly.
Changes to this policy
If a future version of the app ever adds something that touches your data — syncing, for instance — this page will say so before that version ships, and the date at the top will change. The policy is not going to quietly grow exceptions.
